There are two ways to start a hub note (or moc - map of content -, or structure note, or however you want to call it)
- Looking back - when you see that there is a topic emerging in your Zettelkasten, you can collect your notes on the topic into a collection.
- (Of course this is also looking forward - putting your existing notes together will reveal a lot of gaps, hence opportunities to add new notes)
- Looking forward - when you have a new idea for an overarching topic, you can start with brainstorming an outline and fill that up with notes later.
