Beyoncé’s remake of Dolly Parton’s Jolene is just the other side of the coin. Switching “I’m begging of you please” for “I’m warning you” to “don’t take my man” is just another way of depicting romantic relationships in terms of ownership, and portraying female quarrel over men.
