An example when the church really caught a ball that the state dropped was how I got connected to the Esperanto movement.
When I was in 8th grade, my religion teacher knew that it was hard for me to find community, and I was just about to start high school. So she hooked me up with a priest who was part of the Esperanto movement and he invited me to an Catholic Esperanto summer camp.
The Esperanto movement was then indeed part of my life up util my early-mid uni years.
