The musical lineup of the inaugural session of the new Parliament of Hungary in 2026 was symbolic.
The standard parts of such lineup are:
- Himnusz - the national anthem (“O God, bless the nation of Hungary”)
- Szózat - our “second national anthem” (“To your homeland without fail / Be faithful, O Hungarian!)
On top of these, the following songs were presented in the chamber as the session closed:
- Cigányhimhusz (Zöld az erdő, zöld a hegy is) - the Romani anthem (“Green is the forest, green is the mountain”) - as a gesture towards the Romani population of Hungary
- Tavaszi szél vizet áraszt - the folk song that became the unofficial anthem of the winning TISZA party (“Spring wind floods water”)
- Ode to Joy - the anthem of the European Union - played as a symbol of Hungary re-committing to Europe
- Székely himnusz - the anthem of Székely Land / Transylvania (“Who knoweth where, O where our destiny shall be?“) - played as a gesture towards Hungarians abroad, also as a gesture towards the nationalists
On the steps of the Parliament, there were additional performances, some of them also had heavy significance or symbolism:
- Magyarország, a wholesome patriotic song performed by Ibolya Oláh had its multi-layered symbolism and significance
- Georgina Revell (Jalja) performed Midnight (Hanging tree - a Hunger Games music remix) live and Dr. Zsolt Hegedűs, incoming health minister performed his viral dance to it.
- He went viral with his spontaneous joyful dance moves to this song, celebrating on Election night.

- Martin from the Hiperventi Youtube Channel pointed out that Hegedűs’ performance, along with the light show, Péter Magyar DJ-ing during the night, and the rave party until morning were not just the signs of change but a serious nod to the core base that elected TISZA: the youth.

- The two folk songs presented were performed by a children’s orchestra, organized by a volunteer to give a purpose and community to boys in their area, many of them Romani children. The freshly inaugurated Prime Minister Péter Magyar met these children during one of his country tour, and promised back then to invite them to the inaugural session if the TISZA party wins.
- It caused public outrage that the far right faction Mi Hazánk Mozgalom left the chambers as a protest before the children’s performance.
- International audience can know Tavaszi szél vizet áraszt, because Freddie Mercury performed it on a Queen concert in Budapest. Local audience loved it and it became an eternally famous moment for us.
- I was at a Cesar Millan event once in Budapest. Cesar was baffled when the audience didn’t really react to his catchphrase “Cesar Millan the Dog Whisperer” (he had to repeat a few times and rally up the crowd for some reaction), yet we lost our minds when he made a joke about slow walkers being like the retirees going to the thermal bath of Hévíz (pronouncing Hévíz horribly).
- The mistreatment of state-fostered children played a huge-huge part in the downfall of the 16 years rule of FIDESZ.
- The downfall of FIDESZ and the rise of Péter Magyar and TISZA started with the minister of justice (also the ex-wife of Péter Magyar) giving a presidential pardon to an accomplice of a pedophile state officer, and journalists finding out. 3f1-the-timeline-of-the-rise-of-peter-magyar-in-2024-hungary
- Another huge nail in the coffin was when multiple claims emerged that some state-run juvenile correction facilities practically ran organized child prostitution rings.
- Remarkable that state propaganda worked so well that even in the light of such horrible accusations, many FIDESZ-voters clang onto their fears and/or a couple good policies by FIDESZ, being able to turn their heads away from the accusations and evidences.
- Altogether, almost 2.2 million people, more than one-fourth of every eligible voter in Hungary, the third of the people who actually voted still voted for FIDESZ.
