“Behind every successful man, there is a woman”, goes the saying.
But for me, it’s actually triggering to look at the schedule of successful men, often listed as an inspiration or template for a successful day.
You see things like:
- I wake up, wash myself, get dressed, eat breakfast and start to work
- At noon, I eat lunch and go for a walk with my dog
- I get back to work in the afternoon
- I eat dinner, then I spend time with my correspondence or I read.
- I go to bed.
No mention of how clean clothes, breakfast, lunch or dinner appears, or how the house stays clean, the pantry remains stocked.
The work of women (or servants - but even the most humble man can afford at least a wife as a servant) is the grout that keeps these successful schedules together.

- The schedule of a successful woman usually involves chores, and it usually talks about how to get non-chore work done while not losing sight of the chores.

- Another note on Franklin’s diet: as a working teenager, he started eating vegetarian / plant-based, so he can save money for books. Later, he switched back and forth between eating and not eating meat, according to his autobiography.
